As we begin a new series of teachings on prayer we will begin with the 4 purposes of prayer.  I have discovered that almost everyone agrees that prayer is important but yet we are not very good at it.  When we understand the purpose of prayer we will grow in our excitement to pray. 

Your promise Is Only A Step Away

Joshua is leading the Israelites on an exciting adventure into the Promised Land to conquer the cities and giants.  Joshua 3 details out their final preparations before they step into the Jordan River to cross into their promise.  Your promise is only a step away.

I See Promise: Keep Your Focus

oshua chapter 2 begins and ends with the report of two spies who had scouted out the promised land in order to prepare for an invasion.  But the in the middle of the planning God reminded them to keep their focus on their purpose.  The purpose was people.  As our church prepares to move locations we must keep our focus on the purpose.  Our purpose is people! Your purpose is people.  God has purpose for your life too and until you live it you will be frustrated.  

I See Promise: Now Then

Joshua 1 opens up with a statement from God to Joshua, “Moses my servant is dead, now then.”  Now then is a transitional statement.  It was time for the Israelites to get ready to go int to the promised land.  Are you transition?  God has a plan to help you get ready for what’s next in your life.

Re:Versed: Dont Judge Me

Do not judge seems like an open and shut issue. Don’t judge me. We’ve

probably said it and heard it but is that exactly what Jesus meant when he said, “Do

not judge?”

Re:Versed: Only Jesus

Surprisingly baptism has controversy surrounding it.  It seems like people like to argue about anything.  In today’s sermon we will look into the context of baptism and discover if it was necessary for salvation.  Mark 16:16 has sparked the debates so we want to reverse it and find out if we need only Jesus or do we need baptism too. 

God Will Make a Way Out

Temptation is common to all of us.  Even Jesus was tempted but did not sin.  In 1 Corinthians 10:13 it teaches us that God has made a way out of the temptation so that we do not sin. 

Redefining Compassion

There are four important parts to compassion: Go Where the Need Is, Its a Response Rather Than a Reaction, Its a Commitment, not a Convenience, and It Takes People All The Way To Christ.  Join guest speaker Jeremy Hardy on how we are to live out compassion as an action.  

It's Not Over

Romans 8:28 is a powerful verse that brings us great hope in the middle of difficulties.  Whatever you are going through isn’t your final destination.  It’s not over.  God is at work bring good out of what is happening to you right now.
